Lockatong Engineering Looking for Building Inspection/Architectural/Structural Engineer

Our services focus on investigations, diagnostics, design and construction project management of buildings and building systems. The majority of our work concentrates on the evaluation and improvement to existing buildings and includes the building envelope, mechanical, electrical, structural, environmental, and life-safety systems.

We are looking for a building inspection engineer, architectural engineer, and/or structural engineer with experience in evaluating existing buildings. We are open to a Structural or Mechanical Engineer with knowledge of existing buildings. Our intent would be to take your existing experience and expand that knowledge into our building inspection, evaluation and repair design work under a senior Professional Engineer. We are looking for a motivated individual that takes initiative, can work independently and is looking to expand their engineering knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • On-site inspection and evaluation of building envelope and building systems including MEP and structure of mid-rise, high-rise, multi-family, commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities
  • Prepare written technical evaluation reports detailing building systems, defects observed, recommendations, and proposed repair design
  • Typical types of projects include structural inspections, condominium reserve studies, transition studies, property condition assessments (PCA), building envelope investigations, building system repair design
  • Investigation of structural deficiencies in residential and commercial buildings
  • Assist senior staff in preparing repair design and drawings, bid specifications and contractor oversight
  • Direct interaction with clients and travel to local client locations (local NJ area)
  • Support senior staff on various projects with the opportunity to manage your own projects
  • Work independently and multitask over several different projects
  • Must be able to manage time on projects and complete billable timesheets
  • AutoCAD drafting for repair design details and specifications

Qualifications:

  • Desired, 5-10 years working in a consulting engineering firm, with field experience a must
  • Must have knowledge of building construction
  • Good verbal communication skills. Must be able to speak to clients and explain findings.
  • Technical written skills is a must. Our engineers are required to write written reports based on their inspections in a method that communicates well to the client on the findings and recommendations of the inspection.
  • Skills in observation, inspection, evaluation, diagnostics of defects, as well as building construction knowledge. Especially focused in building structure, envelope, historic buildings, water infiltration diagnostic and repair design.
  • Organized, able to work independently, eager to learn, open to new tasks/skills
  • Standard computer skills in Microsoft Office. Experience in AutoCAD desired.

Job type:

  • Full time, 40 hours a week, normal business hours with flexibility
  • This is an in-office position

Required Education:

  • BS in Engineering – Architecture, Structural, Civil, or Mechanical discipline

Required License or Certification:

  • Engineering In Training Certification (FE/EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) License in New Jersey
